Applications are open for the University of Manchester Scholarship. The scholarships are titled as equity, and merit scholarships aim to empower the youth of underdeveloped countries. The scholarships are open for students of selective countries who want to pursue a master’s degree in the UK.
This scholarship program selects students on the basis of their academic record and potential to bring a positive change towards the development of their home countries. You can avail full-time on-campus master’s degree (one year) or part-time learning (3 to 5 years).
The equity and merit scholarships aim to help students who can not afford to study abroad. There is an equal opportunity, and all applications are based on merit selection. Women are especially encouraged to apply. The University of Manchester is a public research university in England. It is a prestigious university with ranking #27 in the world according to QS universities rankings 2021.
Eligibility Criteria :
Applicants must meet the following criteria for a University of Manchester scholarship:
- Applicant must be a citizen of Ethiopia, Malawi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda or Zimbabwe.
- Applicant must not have previously studied outside Africa (6 months of training does not count).
- Must have at least 2 years of professional experience relevant to their selected field of study. Experience does not include unpaid internships or voluntary work.
- Must have a bachelor’s degree ( graduated before September 2020) with excellent grades.
- Applicants must return to their countries to make a positive impact in their own society.
- Each program has its own requirements for English proficiency. Refer to the course profiles for details.
- No English language proficiency certificate from the home university will be accepted.
- There will be no exemption on the language requirements.

- Official degrees and transcripts showing your subjects studied and grades.
- English proficiency certificate
- Signed references. It is mandatory to have at least one reference letter to help us determine your abilities.
- The reference letter must be on letter-headed paper and addressed to “equity and merit scholarships at the University of Manchester.”
- There is no fixed format for the reference letter and it does not need to be confidential.
